De Graafschap (Dutch pronunciation: [də ˈɣraːf.ˌsχɑp]) is a professional football club from Doetinchem, Netherlands. It was formed on 1 February 1954 and they play their home games at the "De Vijverberg" stadium. Their current home ground stands on where the old pitch used to be located and was opened on 12 August 2000. The name of the club means The County in Dutch although they are nicknamed the 'Superboeren' ('Super Farmers').

While not a large club by European club football standards, this club has remained a semi-regular fixture in the Dutch Eredivisie (top league); although to date, it has never won any silverware of importance. De Graafschap is a club with a lot of tradition, however, with players such as the former PSV coach Guus Hiddink ensuring exciting football being played. It also has a large stadium and a large fanbase when compared to many other Dutch teams, particularly those in the Eerste Divisie. They have a fierce rivalry with Vitesse Arnhem.

In 2005, its first season back in the top flight, De Graafschap lost out in the Dutch play-offs and were relegated from the Eredivisie. In 2003, it was defeated again in the playoffs, this time as a promotion candidate.

They were crowned champions of the Eerste Divisie for the 2009-10 season and currently play in the Eredivisie.

Firhill has been home to Partick Thistle since 1909, who had been forced to vacate their previous home at Meadowside a year earlier. The present main stand was constructed in 1927, a year before the ground hosted its only full international fixture to date, against Ireland.

Firhill hosted the first European Cup match ever to be held in Glasgow, When Djurgården of Sweden played their "Home" match at the Stadium against Hibernian in 1955. The Swedish team played at Firhill because of the freezing conditions in Sweden at the time of the match.

Rugby Union

In December 2005 Firhill also became the home of Glasgow's professional rugby union team, Glasgow Warriors, when they moved from their previous base at Hughenden Stadium. After returning to Hughenden in 2006, the Warriors took up a two-year residency at Firhill from the start of the 2007–08 Celtic League season. This was extended in April 2009 for a further five years.^[2]^[3]

In 1996, Firhill was the site of the Scottish national rugby league team's first game on home soil, a victory over their Irish counterparts. Rugby league, very much a minority sport in Scotland, has returned to the ground on several occasions since, including for the 2000 World Cup.

The record attendance for a Partick Thistle game at Firhill was set against Rangers in 1922 when 49,838 people attended. The overall ground record, however, was for the 1926 Scotland v Ireland international when around 55,000 people attended.

The Park stadium in Gelsenkirchen was a football and athletics stadium where the football club FC Schalke 04 1973-2001 fought out their home games. The stadium holds 70 600 spectators at first, after the reconstruction in 1998 62 004 spectators. Since the removal of FC Schalke 04 in the Veltins-Arena stadium, the park was largely unused and in parts also torn down. On the grounds of the former south curve created a rehabilitation center and a hotel.Following the partial demolition were still about 23 000 places available. 2008 was followed by the second phase of demolition.Instead of the Park stadium will include training courses and a small stadium be built for about 10,000 visitors

From its completion in 1973, played Schalke Stadium. She previously played in the Glückaufkampfbahn at Schalke. TheGerman national football team contributed a total of eight games at Stadium Park. With six wins and two draws, Germany remained undefeated in this stadium. Furthermore found here Bundesliga home games from Rot-Weiss Essen (1975) and Borussia Dortmund (1977), the margin of the Bundesliga relegation in 1991 between theStuttgarter Kickers and FC St. Pauli , three semi-finals (Schalke and Cologne in 1980, Schalke, Bayern 1984, Oberhausen -Bavaria 1999) and two finals (Düsseldorf-Cologne in 1978 and 1980) of theDFB Cup , three German Championships in Athletics (1975, 1981, 1987), several major concerts (including Marius Mueller-Westernhagen , Wolfgang Petry , Michael Jackson , Pink Floyd ,Genesis and the Rolling Stones ), and a Papal Mass (1987), because of this, the then Pope John Paul II an honorary member at FC Schalke 04, was held. International recognition also earned the stadium to host the 1974 World Cup qualifying game with a decision, five games of the tournament and the 1988 European Championship with two games.

First, should the Park Stadium Ruhrstadion hot. However, the former was at the stadium Castroper road later in the Bochum Ruhr Stadium . Originally, the main grandstand roof get a tent similar to that of the Munich Olympic Stadium. This was rejected for cost reasons, however. Although the stadium has been often maligned because of its ample space, developed in the 1996/97 season, a cult Schalke home games in the UEFA Cup .All six games, including the final first leg against Inter Milan did not concede what was regarded as a basis for Schalke's European Cup success.

In his last years the stadium pointed aging in particular because of mining subsidence on. Schalke-PresidentGünter Eich Berg announced in 1989 with a new arena opening date 1992ndIt was not until 2001, was finally closed to the Park stadium. The last league game at the park stadium was known as a negative for FC Schalke 04 peak.On the final day of the Bundesliga season 2000/2001, the club failed there, despite his 5-3 victory against Kickers Offenbach still possible German Champion, with FC Bayern Munich with his equalizer at Hamburger SV won. Last in the stadium parking only friendly matches were played against opponents unterklassige. The last football game of the first team of FC Schalke 04 in the Park stadium was a friendly match against MSV Duisburg on 17 November 2008 (3-1).
